It's that time of year again! We need your help as we prepare to send our children back to school.  Education is very important to PuentesDR. Each child sponsored has a need for basic supplies that parents, some unemployed and sponsorship alone cannot fulfill. Many are not able to get all the items on the schools list  go to school without. You can be a part of equipping ALL our kids to continue achieving amazing things by helping us get ready to go "back to school." We have kids enrolled in our program that attend public, private and even special ed schools. Although public schools are mostly free of charge in the DR, we do incur "back to school" expenses for our school age kids.  The costs of required school uniforms, shoes, backpacks, tuition for our private and special ed schools, add up quickly for our 100 school aged kids. We currently serve over 100 kids weekly through Bible Studies in 4 separate communities. Not all of these kids are sponsored individually.  We would love if you would consider sponsoring one of the children from the three communities at $50 each.    As always, we want to thank you for you interest in supporting our children here at PuentesDR.

Samuel and Yoselin Gomez have been heading up this project and inviting new children each week and now it exceeds 43! PuentesDR is so blessed by the children in Guatemala and what they are doing there for His kingdom! Each Saturday they meet in the backyard of Samuel and Yoselin and they worship with music, hear a Bible lesson and have snacks. We hope to extend this project to helping families of those in attendance, and home are being visited, with food provided if they are in need. There is a lot of need in this community, our prayer is that as they meet they will feel God's love for them in a tangible way.

Being a sponsor for a child or the PuentesDR family is an amazing opportunity, but to actually meet the child you sponsor  is priceless! Making a "Mission Trip Donation" gives sponsors the opportunity to go and spend time building relationships with those they sponsor and to see first hand the difference their sponsorship makes. These  trips happen once a year and are open to current sponsors or anyone who would like to learn more about the ways PuentesDR is working to break the cycle of poverty in the Dominican Republic. PuentesDR also provides opportunities for churches to send teams to serve in Dominican Republic communities in a variety of ways, including building and remodeling houses, leading Vacation Bible School, visiting sponsored children, meet your sponsored child, and witness the love of Christ by building relationships. If you are a sponsor or would like to help  someone take a trip, know that your donation will be a treasured gift! 

Please help us provide school uniforms to all of the children in our sponsorship program.  School in Jarabacoa will officially start early September. We are currently raising funds to provide our children with new school uniforms. Each child will receive a a  uniform, a backpack and a pair of shoes.  There is nothing quite like seeing these Dominican children of all ages coming to school, dressed in their school uniforms, with a backpack on their shoulders, ready and excited to learn on their first day!  This will be a tremendous help to their families and our staff.  Your support provides the necessary educational funds for the children in our program to not only attend school, but to thrive and have the opportunity to make an impact that will trickle down for generations to come.  Your continued support plays a critical role in their success!
