Places

The Dominican Republic is an island nation known for its rich culture and beautiful landscapes. With a population of approximately 10.6 million, it is the second largest Caribbean nation. It occupies the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with Haiti.

PuentesDR exists because poverty exists. Abject poverty doesn’t end when you provide food, clothing and shelter to those in need.

PuentesDR works in five communities where children receive sponsorship support for education and nutrition. In addition, we invest spiritually in families through weekly Bible studies and discipleship, seeking to lead children and parents helping them to know Christ and grow in Him

El Callejón

El Callejón is a rural community in the outskirts of Jarabacoa in which many of the kids live in substandard conditions. Throughout the year these children receive weekly Bible studies in which the children receive weekly Bible instruction.

Guatemala - San Miguel Milpas Altas

Joselin and Samuel Gomez are currently working in SanMiguel Milpas Altas leading weekly "Escuelitas Biblicas" and all kids are involved in Bible lessons and Activities every Saturday morning. There are 62 children in attendance each week and family members have been helping with the snacks provided each week. The Bible studies are held in the back yard under a temporary shelter and tables and chairs have been purchased to make this possible. Your continued donation will allow us to continue God's work being done.

Jarabacoa

The city of Jarabacoa is located in the Central Mountain Range of the Dominican Republic in the beautiful valley of La Vega. The area is popular with Dominican tourists and filled with small rural communities with tremendous material and spiritual needs. There are a few children living in the area of Jarabacoa nearby that are in need and receive sponsorship.

Los Candelarios

PuentesDR works in the community of Los Candelarios with around 8-10 children, but leads a Bible study each Wednesday with around 25. Each week one of those families opens up their home to  host those kids each week, PuentesDR goes directly to where the needs are, as Jesus did.

Los Corrales

Bible studies began in this community that was in need of spiritual support. There are no sponsored kids here, but this past trip in January of 2024 launched the womens devotional project here. I was able to visit this community for the first time last week!

Los Higos

Los Higos is a small community of sponsored families that live in a beautiful mountain community outside of Jarabacoa in the Dominican Republic.

Empowering communities through impactful programs, our nonprofit is dedicated to creating lasting positive change for those in need.
